Our foundation by Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney was prompted for the protection of Catholic families.
In 1882 workers in construction and laborers did not have any type of insurance. Therefore their families would be without income if the breadwinner was disabled or died. The purpose of bringing Catholic workers together was for fellowship, but also for mutual aid and support. This meant widows and families would be taken care of.
This was the beginning of the Knights of Columbus Insurance Company, a AAA+ financial service company.
